I got the okay to breed Dubias!
It has taken me nearly two years to convince my girlfriend that this was a good idea. This morning she broke down. She is still infinitely disgusted by them, but that is okay with me. The Tucson Reptile Show is toward the end of September, I hope to find a nice group of them to start off with.
My question is, what do most people recommend for a starting group? Some people say 20 some say 200. As soon as it cools down in AZ I will be receiving my 10 CG's from AC, I currently have 1 adult male CG and a 15 gram female tailless CG, as well as an adult male bearded dragon.
Hopefully this will give you an idea of what I will need to be feeding when my breeding group is well established.
I have bred these little gems years ago; I can't wait to get them started again! Buying crickets is no bueno...

I started with 300, mixed sizes (probably 50-75 adults?)
It wasn't really all that long before I estimated I had 5000, mostly nymphs of course.

Lucky. I'm still trying to convince my wife that we should breed our own. It was easier to convince her to breed rates when she is deathly allergic them.
A friend of mine started with only 50. He noticed they bred faster when they are in a smaller space.

I have read this as well. Good luck convincing her, it only took me two years.
