Easy fish recommendations?

Its been awhile since I've had a fish and I would like to get another one soon. Nothing fancy, just something simple and not too high maintenance.

I've always had bettas or goldfish so if possible I would like to branch out a little bit. Only thing is I don't really have room for the 10 gallon filtered one I used to use, so im left with a gallonish table top one and some large decorative bowl style ones. Is there anything else that I can keep in something like these without a filtration system?

White Cloud Mountain Minnows would be perfect for that setup. Also try Guppies or Glofish/Zebra Danios.

The thing about the white clouds is they don't need a heater but it is preferred that they have some kind of filtration system, now for the guppies glofish and other danios they need both a water heater and a filter or they won't last very long. I work at an aquarium so I have a pretty good understanding of fish. The best thing for something that is 1 gallon or so is a betta. There are many different varieties such as deltas, crown tail, dragon scale, ect.. your local pet shop should have them. As for goldfish, they all get quite large usually a minimum of 12 inches and it does not matter how small of a tank they are in, the fish will continue to grow. Best of luck!!!!!

You should get some cherry shrimp. You can have quite a few in that size tank.

haha, I can definitely attest to that one.. my grandmother kept a tiny feeder goldfish for me that I had one at a carnival, and two years later when I came to visit he turned into a monstrosity of a fish.

thanks for your suggestions though. can betta fish live with any non-fish friends or would they have to be strictly solitary?

betta might be okay with some snails or cherry shrimp. no telling though, they could also eat em.

now I'm confused: I didn't consider this a proper filter.. but it says that it is a filter. Am I wrong?

that tank has no filter.

Edit: it says undergravel filter, yeah right. It's an airstone, not a sponge. Not sure how that is going to filter anything. If it had a sponge on it, it could be a sponge filter, sucking all the gunk into the sponge, therefore you'd only have to rinse in tank water to clean it out.

Okay, thats what I thought, thanks again. I feel like a noob asking all these dumb questions. I wish my 10 gallon didn't take up so much darn table space lol.
