    Bull Snake Hissy Fit

Ive had my baby bull snake for about 3 months and shes never hissed at me. Shes always flighty when trying to take her out but once in hand she calms down. I handle her about 2 or 3 times a week 5 - 10 min. Today I was surprised when her tail was rattling and that big mouth opened wide for a nice loud hissss!
I was wondering, I recently brought home a baby ferret, could the cent of the ferret trigger this type of behavior or is it just normal for bulls to try and push their weight around. Right now shes about 40-41 inches. (Man these guys grow fast) .

My gophers are fine if I immediately pick them up when I open their enclosures. However, if I wait, or try to take pictures of them in their enclosure, they will start to tail rattle, hiss and even charge me open mouthed.

I've just learned to go "oooh, so scarey - come here you worm!" and just pick them on up.

In other words, the behavior is perfectly "normal".

Good to know, I have to admit while at first unnerving, once I had her in hand I was like "that was pretty cool".
