    Animal Illustrations!

For my illustration class, our final project was a self directed assignment..

My choice was to illustrate an imaginary kid's book I've always hoped to write since I got my animals! Sort of showing off the cool/cute side of the critters that so many people are so afraid of! I think that all of creation is beautiful and awesome, and they all have unique talents. So the theme is sort of a wild circus, with the animals as the talented performers showing off their natural abilities(and being cute!)

I chose my own pets because, hey, they are awesome and my babies!

I also sort of went with circus because I had drawn a circus picture before and my teacher just loved how I drew it and wanted me to do that feeling again. But anyway

I did two "Spot" illustrations(just a figure, not a full page, where words would be around the image) and one full page illustration.

This would be early on in the book, with the little girl first getting a look at the scary "Monsters"!

Awww and they aren't so scary! This is sweet Bella all dressed up for her big show!

And Nagini is looking gorgeous! I love how her pattern came out, this was pretty difficult to make it look like her pattern(ish) while keeping it in the simple style

I tried to make it LOOK like a kids book, and tried to keep simple shapes and have it rendered in a simple way..I really like how it came out, though I would like to go back and spend more time on it... And maybe someday finish it with the rest of my animals!

I would love a book like that for my son. He's great around reptiles but his little friends- not so much. That would be a great way to share the experience and make others more comfortable.

Keep up the good work! I love it I used to draw so much growing up. I'm pretty good but I haven't practiced in years. I'm trying to get my Wacom tablet up and going and a freeware Photoshop type software so I can get back into it digitally. This is definitely some motivation.

    Regards,

    B

I just installed it today I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I liked GIMP but it refused to work with my Wacom.

Very cool! I can see you being very successful as an artist. It is a hard profession to make a living at but you are very talented and won't have a problem. Great photos too.
