    Data cards

I decided some months ago to get serious with my balls. I've built a couple racks, added some new gorgeous snakes. Got a rat rack and started raising my own rats.

I've been taking better notes capturing weight, defecation, sheds and eating eating schedule...but I've found it difficult to go to my laptop each time.

What do you all use to track this? I wonder if there are card templates people use? What are your best practices for note taking?

I use a whiteboard in my snake room. I then enter it into iHerp.com a couple times a week. Seems to work great so far.

    Regards,

I love Iherp also. I do want to get better tracking on my rat room though. I haven't entered all of them on I-herp. Does anyone enter there rats there? How do you do records on them?

I've tracked mine in a little sectioned notebook so far. It's worked out great for me, but considering there's only three sections and I'm getting a couple more snakes next month, I'll have to figure something else out.. or have two books.

Then I recommend iHerp It has everything I could imagine that would need to be tracked, including breeding. Though, I'd prefer to also have hard copies of the records.. who knows what can happen to electronics/websites.

I use feed cards I got from RichsBallPythons last year and they are way more organized then the notebooks I used to use, especially with 20 boas lol

I use MS Excel. It allows me to quickly and easily keep track of all the parameters I want. I did use iHerp, but found that it was too slow for keeping track of all my snakes.
