Nutritional difference between fresh or frozen?
Does anyone know if there is an actual difference in the nutritional value of a frozen rodent vs. a live or fresh killed one?
Just thinking about it today and thought if anyone had anything to add, it may be interesting to know.

No one has studies done to prove either frozen or fresh kill/live is better than the other.
I am working on rats are better than mice. With a mouse eating female laying eggs 2 years in row that are always on deaths door, this year she switched to rats. IF eggs are better this year being a rat eater, thats enough proof IMO that rats are superior to mice.

It would be a great project if someone could somehow figure it out.
In addition to your tid bit on your little experiment I have a few questions.
Are you referring to BPs? And if so are you certain with an adult female eating mice that she is getting enough food in general? It would take a very large amount of mice to match even the gram weight of an adult rat. Just wondering if you can say in confidence that it wouldnt effect your outcome of results.
I always switch my new BPs to rats if they are on mice, its such a pain to feed an BP adult mice IMO.

The old saying is gram fer gram rats and mice are to be the same. She is 1500g eating 2 breeder sized mice. Which run 45g each mouse. So say 90g per meal.
Now shes eating on small rat which is about 50-60g each meal.
All i feed is that size meals to all my adult females. She was my only mouse eater and since laying hasnt taken a mouse just rats.

Just one year left to find out if rats fixes her problem. If it does thats proof enough for me and hope for everyone else that rats are better than mice.
I used to think they were the same but no ones done anything to prove otherwise, and I think this will be enough evidence.
If it dont help her then shes a bad breeder and will be retired.
