04/05/11 - Report: Hendo vs Fedor set for July 30thA fight between Dan Henderson and Fedor Emelianeko is now set, it has been reported.

According to respected MMA journalist Jonathan Snowden, it will take place on July 30th and air on the Showtime network. has revealed via twitter that Fedor vs. Henderson is a go:

“Sources close to both fighters tell me the Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson fight has been finalized for July 30th in Chicago on Showtime,” he posted via his Twitter account.

“Sources close to the promotion say the Fedor-Henderson fight will at a catchweight of 220. It will be promoted as a heavyweight bout… I was told that it would be promoted as a heavyweight bout but that both fighters would be no more than 220 pounds.”

It had been thought that the fight would mark Strikeforce’s first venture into pay per view but it seems that is off and the show will air on Showtime, as Strikeforce shows usually do.

There had been intense speculation as to what weight the fight would take place it, with talk of Fedor dropping to light-heavyweight after his loss to Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva in the opening round of the Strikeforce Grand Prix earlier this year.

Henderson, the new Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion, was reportedly set on the fight taking place at heavyweight. Fighting at a weight of 220lbs means there should not be too much difference in size between them; Fedor is notoriously small for a heavyweight.
