    Weight guide

Can someone lead me to a guide on the proper weight of a ball python per month?

    eg:
    Male
    1 months 100g
    2 months 200g
    3 months etc..

    Female
    1 months 100g etc...

    Thanks! :-)

I'm no expert, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I do know all BPs are unique. Writing up a weight chart for BPs would be like writing up a weight chart for people, expecting them to weigh the same as all others the same age.

    Re: Weight guide

Thanks! The Reason that I asked was because someone was trying to sell a Spider to me which was 7 months old but only 200g :-( I wanted to find out if this was a normal average weight for a 7 months old BP.

Wow...only 200g. That is light...mine where at that weight at 4 & 5 months. Well over 400g now and they're 7 months old now! Just food for thought!

The weight of a growing Ball Python depends greatly on how much the BP eats. Being 200g at 7 months you can get a general idea that either the BP isn't a great eater. Maybe not a bad eater, but definitely not a great one.

Either that or the breeder hasn't been offering the BP food very often or hasn't been offered appropriately sized prey items.

I have a 7 month old 340 gram het albino and a 7 month old 750 gram black pastel both females.
They both get offered the same meals each week, the het albino strangles and refuses to eat half of her meals
They are all individuals as to how much they will eat, that being said I wouldn't purposefully purchase one to buy that is potentially a problem feeder.

I have 2 Ball Pythons that are about 5 months old. The male I have had for about 3 months and the female I purchased about 3 weeks ago. They are very close in weight (both nearly 300g each). They are both growing very rapidly, the male has gained over 100g in the last month alone (feeding rat crawlers every 5 to 7 days). I would avoid purchasing a 7 month old at only 200g unless you are up for a challenge.

    Re: Weight guide

There is no guidline for a snake's growth. Too many variables to even consider this. If you own the snake and it's a fussy eater, it's going to be lighter than if it pounds a rodent every 4-5 days. If it was born light, it's got a lot of eating to catch up too.

Thre is a thread here somewhere about a lightweight hatchling. He was extremely light, but the breeder kept feeding him and he is now a respectable weight.

    Good Luck!
