    Hognose enclosure

My hog just shed a week or so ago but he doesn't seem as relaxed as he used to. He used to move around under the substrate etc. But now sometimes he will sit in the same spot whether on the cold side or hot side for a day or so at a time. The hot side has a toilet paper roll cardboard piece as his hide, covered in the shaving, cold side has a water bowl.

I use a regular heater that is used for people's back etc for heating. Is this normal behavior or should I think about changing the setup?

    Re: Hognose enclosure

I am unsure about the behavior aspect, to be honest, but I do think you should change your setup. I was using heating pads at first with my ball, and didn't realize that their heat output fluctuated so significantly - I came upstairs one night and it was sitting at 110F! I replaced that sucker with a UTH in a skinny minute...

Under tank heater, like a heat pad but a little bit more legit than the people heaters. Some of those tend to turn off or be unstable, at least in my experience
