    ASF eating young

We are new to the ASF and just started breeding them. We had our first female have a litter about a week ago. Prior to this we did research on breeding and every one we talked to and all the articles we read said you could keep the mother and her pups in with the rest of the colony and the others will help care for the pups. Well we started off with 8 pups and now have 2. So I'm asking does any one know why? They are getting plenty of high protein feed and plenty of water. We just had another litter this morning and don't want this to happen again. Thank you for any help you can give us.

They are low on protein, give them some unsalted sunflower seeds and peanuts in shell.
