    Owning hots in Georgia

I was wondering if anyone kept hots in GA. I have been looking for regulations on owning exotic hots and cant find anything. I know that you can keep any venomous native species but I cant find anything about exotics. Any info on regulations or lack of will help. Thanks!

Cant help you but you should be able to go to game and fish site and download the regulations. Sometimes it is a very hard read though....convaluted!! You can also give them a call and talk to them regarding whatever. I know I had some questions regarding our regulations ....I called them and they were very helpful.

You can't own exotic hots, you won't get a permit. You'll have to stick to the natives. On a plus note, we have some of the most beautiful copper heads in the nation, native to GA.

Keep in mind, you can't go herping too far from your house. They are illegal to transport unless you have one of the nuisance removal permits. You can get more information from Tim at F&W. I can't remember his last name, but get his email from the website and he'll tell you everything you need to know. He also posts on Craigslist when people post restricted animals.

If you want exotics you need to move up one state.

Ha Ha yea I know, i live about 30 min from SC. Unfortunately I wont be moving anytime soon. I hate Georgia's laws on animals, SOOO much is illegal here its awful. I'm surprised we weren't the first ones to pass the ban on large snakes. But i fear its coming soon.
