    Death during Birth

Checking in on my ASFs this afternoon and found a Breeder female had died during labor. One pup made it out, It seems the others were not as Lucky. A bloody mess. Has this happened to anyone else??? Just checking. Thank You

if it was lots of blood, sounds like it could have been a hemorrhage?

never had it happen, but i'm sure somebody on the forums has.

I just had it happen with one of my female rats about a month ago. Same difference though, they are both a type of rat I suppose. Nothing you can really do to save them.

    Re: Death during Birth

I've lost several female rats that were giving birth.

Breech births most likely, one dropped 2 babies and couldn't deliver more and her sister 2 days later breech birthed without delivering any.
They both were on their 2nd pregnancy and had perfect normal litters their first time

I've yet to lose an asf this way but I'm sure it happens with them too.
