Can you ship reptiles without being fed ex certified?
The title says it all, can live reptiles be shipped fed ex priority overnight without being fed ex certified? Also what are the exact benefits of being fed ex certified? In other words, is it really worth it to become fed ex certified??
Thanks
Greg

You can not ship Fedex without being certified and please, please don't try. You can get in a lot of trouble and it will also put in jeopardy hundreds of hobbiests who are certified. There is a thread on here on how to be certified. It's not difficult. You just have to open an account, get in touch with your representative, do a test package and fill out some paperwork.

Do you want to ship reptiles? Then yes. No cheaper option out there at this time... You can go through Ship Your Reptiles and Reptiles Express to ship lizards but you can't ship snakes through them.

Actually, I'm not sure this is true anymore either. From what I've read, both businesses have gotten a cease-and-desist on all selling of shipping labels to third parties. (Apparently, that is a no-no too, in addition to the whole snake controversy.) The whole thing is a big tangled mess though, and there may still be folks buying labels...but I wouldn't count on either of those businesses for long-term shipping solutions at this time.

Yes you sure can ship reptiles through FedEx without being certified. I'm sure I am going to get yelled at for saying this though...
But, I have done it LOTS of times with no problems at all.

That goes against current Lacy Act regulations which is breaking the law. As far as I know this forum does not allow the discussion of any law-breaking acts..
PLEASE. if you are going to ship lizards/geckos/amphibs do it through UPS, those animals are on their approved shipping list.

If you are going to ship SNAKES: FedEx and Delta Dash are the ONLY legal ways to do it. For FedEx you have to get certified. For Delta Dash i have no idea. I'm sure there is a lot of paperwork and a certification as well.
Please do not jeopardize the only legal way we have to ship snakes.

Depending on the type of animal you ship if you don't list the species and number you are shipping on the box at the time of processing then you (again depending on the species) are in violation of the Federal Lacy Act. Which is a Federal offence, they will nail you for smuggling, and about three other things .
Please get certified ASAP..Do things the right way and please stop endangering my hobby by no following the rules..

With as easy as it is to get certified, and all the benefits that come with that certification (deeper discounts on your shipping, a representative that will help you should anything happen to your shipment, not having to lie to FedEx and be covert about it), why haven't you gotten certified.
This IS a touchy subject, and reptile keepers are under scrutiny as is. As a responsible keeper - I urge you to get certified - it's so easy to do, it's not even funny. Please don't be one of "those" keepers who make the rest of look bad by taking short cuts and not following the rules. They may not be the "law", but they are rules that we all need to follow, especially when our hobby is currently under attack by law makers.
