Like 8th graders at a dance...

I was stoked that my 100% het Albino girl, Rosalind, reached (and surpassed) 1500g in time for breeding season... so I introduced her to Orlando the het, and so far they're just acting like 8th graders at a school dance. "Do you like me? Check YES, NO or MAYBE."

P.S. I realize Orlando is kinda fat... that's a recent development (guess his length-wise growth is slowing down?), so he's going on a diet starting this week.

I didn't know BPs could "look like" either sex, LOL. I've never popped or probed him myself... but I trust Justin Kobylka, who sold him to me as a male.

What makes you say it looks like a female? As far as i know, nobody can say the gender of a snakes by looks.

That's what I thought! You can make educated guesses with some species, like corn snakes, but even then it's not 100% accurate... and with BPs I don't even think you can guess. Anyway, back to the topic at hand.

I rightly guessed that the petsmart guy was wrong and that I was buying a female. Even the vet wasn't sure at first(said it looked like a male, but probed like a female, but that was when she was younger).

At this point it's been confirmed that I was definitely right, and I've never owned a BP before this one.

However I would have to say that Orlando looks like a male. Hopefully they'll get over the 8th grade cootie fear and we'll have confirmation.

I am guessing b/c of head size and body width.......females tend to be bigger in both but without knowing age it would be hard to say. As well as I thought a pastel I had was a "male" and turned out to be a female. You can never tell til you make sure yourself.

To the OP, my fire and female have been doing this for about 3 weeks now. It's quite annoying. haha But they have moved to the cuddling stage now.

Just keep trying over time and they should get the hang of it eventually. Both are very good looking snakes though!!

Thanks all! I'm sure he's a male, since Justin is very reputable 'round these parts... and unlike with females, the anatomy of a male is QUITE obvious.
