    Taking my snake outdoors

I took Gene outside yesterday to show some visiting family members our newest addition, and within seconds of the warm sun hitting him, he was cruising all over my hands and arms! It seemed to energize him more than just taking him out of his tank in the bedroom does. I took him out again today and after a few minutes walking around, had a group of kids that live here in the apartment complex following me around and asking me questions. I've officially been dubbed the "Python Dude", it makes me laugh. It also amazes me to see people that are normally afraid of nothing cower and back up when they see a snake tongue flicking in their direction.

    Re: Taking my snake outdoors

Hah I'm now the snake information source for my whole neighbourhood and the surrounding four blocks because I took Maynard out for a little walk. Also, my really super buff friend is terrified of him! It is indeed pretty humorous.

Haha, yeah. I figure if its going to be in the mid-80's here for the next few days, I might as well enjoy it before the cold weather hits. I don't claim to know how his mind works but Gene seems to enjoy the warm sun. Plus, he's a great conversation starter. Nice way to break the ice with new neighbors!

    Re: Taking my snake outdoors

Be careful, especially in an apartment complex. All it takes is one complaint! While old management at my complex was fine with my critters, we've changed management a few times, and I just prefer to keep everything indoors. Don't know if new management would feel any differently, but I don't take chances! LOL

Yeah the management here is pretty cool. We've talked to them about this sort of thing before. As long as the apartments are clean, and any animals other than the dog/cat mentioned in the lease are caged (rodents, snakes, etc) they don't care.

    Re: Taking my snake outdoors

I've taken mine outside on numerous occasions! He seems to enjoy the nice weather as well, so long as there isn't a significant breeze. That bugs him...

We've taken ours outside too, and are known in our neighborhood as the snake people. We don't take them out for long periods, though, just for some photos in the sunlight or a short walk around the building or down the sidewalk.
