    Caging ?

Just a question... People say an adult ball python can live its life in a 29-30 gal tank. With that said I've heard people talk about how an exo terra 36x18x18 is too small. How can this be if an average 29 gal is 30x12 1/2x17 or 18?

For an adult ball python neither a 29 gallon or a 30 gallon would be good. For an adult ball python if you wanted to use tanks you could use a 30 long gallon which is 36in. long- 18in. wide- 12in. tall or a 40 breeder Exo-Terra tank which is 36in. long- 18in wide- 18in. tall. For the most part ball pythons do not out grow them, unless you get a huge one like Brian Gundy.
    Ball Pythons:
    0.1.0 Bumble Bee- Schnapps
    0.1.0 Pinstripe- Penny
    0.1.0 Super Cinnamon- Cleo
    0.1.0 Albino- Daiquiri
    0.1.0 Low White Piebald- Hershey
    1.0.0 Low White Piebald- Reese
    1.0.0 Paradox Super Cinnamon- Dash
    1.0.0 100% Het. Albino- Jester
    1.0.0 50% Het. Albino Jake

Thanks for the info. My 6 month old ball python is in a 20 gal right now. I was thinking about an exo terra but everything I read says its not big enough. Just tired of plain old aquariums I guess. This isn't something I'm going to get real soon or anything. I was just thinking of one as a permanant cage in the next few months

There are a lot of opinions with this topic. Everybody has one and I believe there isn't a definitive answer. Personally it depends on the snake. I have a very large female (4300gm), and she is in a large enclosure and I also have a small male (1200gm) it seems silly to make a blanket statement that as 3 year olds they should be housed in a ___.

I go by the width plus the length should not be much shorter than the snake occupants. So a 30x24 would be fine for an animal of 54 inches perhaps 56 at the most. I know some would say the circumference rather than 2 sides I usually go with a bit bigger myself, as that the diagonal length allows the snake to stretch fully (mostly anyway).
