    moving chatbox ?

I was wondering if the chatbox could be moved back on top of the forums? Its being used very little. Since it stays open once you "chat" you kind of forget you are "in there" and don't scroll all the way down to check on replies. Most times people will "shout out" and then leave.

It would be so much easier to keep an eye on the chatbox (and if someone needs help, replies, etc) if it was on top, rather then having to scroll all the way down constantly...

Just wondering if that would be an option

    Re: moving chatbox ?

When we first introduced the shout box in the previous version of vBulletin - we had it at the top, and what ended up happening was that everyone asked their questions there, rather than in the forums.

Ball-pythons.net's focus is on the forums, not the chat, and when really good answers were being made to questions, there was no way to search or archive them, and we want to encourage people to use the forums to ask their questions, not the shout box.

Therefore, rather than get rid of the shout box completely, we chose to put it at the bottom of the forum.

How the ability to turn on some sort of notification for the chat box? also anyway to make the chat not time out after 5 minutes?

I understand where your coming from with it being focused on the forum, but it was a nice feature to talk to people a little more personally, I know I fell away from the chat after a while and now it seems everyone has. We used to have fun.
