    Constipation - soaking isn't working

    Hello,

My female Ball Python is starting to look a lot like those ballons you get at a fair, or perhaps a long sausage... I have soaked her in warm water, but nothing has happened... I've got a vet appointment booked for a week from tomorrow. Shouold I book one for tomorrow instead??

I have felt near her vent, and there are 2 balls, which I'm assuming are Urate....

She eats regularly, but I'm not going to feed her this week (since she will likely pop!)

    any suggestions??? I'm concerned.

Leave her alone. She'll pass the poop when she/he feels like it. I've seen some hold in a meal for 2 months before going, and that's not constipation even.
If it's near the vent, it will be out in 2 days to about a week or so from now.

How long since her last poop?

It's been a very long time!

She was off food for 2 months because she was preggo. She laid 52 days ago. Since then she has eaten a couple small rats, a large rat and a couple mediums...

    Hi,

Does any of this seem familiar?

If it does you may want to take her to a vet just to make sure it isn't a similar problem.

I would read the link that Derek posted for you.

I've had a younger snake that couldn't pass a urate and got the blown up sausage look and I took her outside and VERY gently worked the urate out.....and stood back while everything else that was backed up came whooshing out.

I read your post, went upstairs and my wife and i very gently rubbed down the snake, whos name is Helix. We rubbed her gently for about 5 minutes or so - so gently in fact that it was more of a tickle. then NASTY!@ 4 huge urate chunks came out. so big infact, that I thought they could have been unlaid slugs (even though there is virtually no way they could have been). She hasn't poohed yed, just urate - but I feel much better.
