    Abused BP's at Zoo!

Okay guys i went to the zoo today (Mods is it okay if i say the zoos name? I have enough infractions and do not want any more)

But yea the Ball python was in a very verticle tank. Very little floor space. No hides just climbing branches and folige. If that was not bad enough there were 2 ADULT ball pythons in the enclosure.

    It gets worse

Above the tank a little sign read "Some like it hot" And then showed the tempeture of the tank.

110 Degrees!!! 110! Poor snakes must have been burning to death.

But yea this goes to show that even big name zoos are not perfect. To them its more important that the tank looks "Nice" or "Appealing" Then the health of there animals.

Was the 110 degrees an ambient temperature or a hot spot? Was it a hot spot under the ground or was it from something like a light? If it was from a light, that 110 degrees could have been near the top of the enclosure, with the balls choosing their own distance from the light. There's more than just one way to keep snakes successfully, and looking nice doesn't mean it's wrong.

This is probably a dumb question, but are BPs semi-arboreal?

Not to my knowledge...they're ground-dwellers and indeed all but one of my Balls really suck at climbing and seem to avoid it at all costs.

@ Mookfu ambient or hot spot 110 degrees is still way over the limit from what i am aware of.
