I doubt the rat is alive, the snake will constrict until the rat is dead

It will suffocate before digestion kills it. Though you would have noticed if it was swallowing a live rat... Unless you weren't supervising.

A large rat would be able to defend itself from being swallowed alive, the snake would have to kill it first. I have had baby rat/mice pinkies that are eating alive but die quickly once inside the snake stomach due to the lack of oxygen (doesn’t happen often though). You might want to try and pre-kill your feeders before you give it to your snake. Good luck and hopefully everything turns out to be just fine

i dunno wat the hell happened.. i always watch my snake eat from start to finish... maybe the snake passed out and didnt die but i definitely saw moving in the belly and heard little squeals... this has been a wake up call for me... im killing the rats 1st next time... mice were fine alive and i felt my snake was safe.. but these big ass rats look like they can do some damage..

    btw my bp is ok
