This is normal behaviour... my adult male tries, every night, to get out... to no avail. They're very curious animals and will look for escape points

Sounds like your temps are a little low you need to shoot for a cool side of 82-85 and a hot side of 90-95 you should also check out the caresheet on the forum it is full of info that is very useful to a beginner.

    Hello, and to BP.net...

If you could provide a thorough description of your set-up and/or a photo it would help. Things such as the enclosure size, what you are using for hides, what you are using to measure your temps and humidity, and what you are controlling the heat mat with. Also, what type of prey have you offered and how often? One of the biggest reasons that snakes refuse to eat is stress brought on by husbandry and housing issues, whether it be from improper temperatures, to a lack of security due to enclosure size or hide size...

That is part of the settle in period! They are restless during this time until they get used to their new home. As stated, you temps are too low, you should have a hot side of 90-94! Here is a caresheet so you can make sure you have a perfect home for it: http://www.ball-pythons.net/modules/...warticle&id=59

Your temps are a little low so that seems to be the only problem without you giving more derail. My snakes try to get out every night, they sometimes like to explore and search for an escape, nothing to worry about

Some of my snakes like to test their tub tops nightly. My Milk Snake has made it her personal life goal to escape. My Pastel Ball tries to climb out of his tub every time I open it to check on him...and my Dumeril would probably take my hand off if I didn't use a hook to get him out. To each their own, I say...I adore my quirky little (...and in some cases, not-so-little!) snakes.
