Fedex Certified Q: Need to be a Business?

I opened a fedex account today online. I then called them and told them that I would like to be a certified shipper of live, harmless reptiles.

After asking for my account number, they asked for my business info. I told them this wasn't for a business and that I have a personal account. Then they told me you have to have a business account to get certified?? Is this true?

    After reading the post:

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ting+certified,

I didn't see anywhere where it said you have to be a business. Maybe the rules have changed?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Just tell them you are a business, you are the owner and if they need a business name then think what you would like to name your reptile business and give them that. A business doesn't have to have a store front to be a business. It is a pretty easy process...just consider what you are doing...is as a business and answer any questions with that mindset.

    Good Luck!

Yes, you're technically supposed to be a business. However, most just put it down as a home business. So if you're John Smith, you might tell them you run Smith Reptiles out of your home. Even though it may not actually be a business, it suffices for FedEx certification.
