I'm going to take a leap here and guess that he means 'dangerously venomous' spiders.

I don't yet, but I have a friend who works in pest control and he is under strict orders to bring me a black widow or two when he finds them.

My pool cage has brown widow nests all over the place... at least it did till I took the pressure washer to them. Snakes I'm great with. Spiders... no, not really.

I've been bitten by a black widow, twice. The first bite resulted in a 3 day hospital stay because I am allergic to the venom. Lots of breathing trouble, pain, swelling, and oozing from the bite area. The second bite we knew to treat differently from the start because of my allergy and it was not so bad, overnight stay for monitoring and only mild breathing trouble, pain, swelling, and oozing.

So I am really deathly afraid of spiders and I feel like I've earned the right to be.

I've got a friend that keeps spiders, but I won't go near his house.
