Transporting my BP

So I'm heading home from college in a few days and I have to drive from Gainesville, FL to Lewisville, NC which is roughly an 8 hour trip. Obviously I'm bringing Loki home, but I'm not sure if there is anything special I need to do.

How do I drive him home?
Do I need heat packs?
Will he be fine for that short a period of time?
What do I do about water?
Will I need to worry about feeding him in the next few days? Or should I feed before we travel?

Any help will be most appreciated

I wouldnt feed before travel. And after the move i guess u could just wait a week to eat

Put him in a pillow case. Make it snug. Place him on the seat and try to keep the A/C Heater on the warm side. He will transport just fine.

+1, agreed, shouldnt be too much trouble to transport him, just make sure it doesnt get too hot

So I shouldn't transport him in his cage? just bring it along separately?

Guys I don't want to leave my snake in a pillowcase for 8 hours...thats too long and it will get too hot and stuffy in there. Is it ok to transport him in his cage for that time period?

Use the pillowcase. Don't transport him in his tank. Just use a low thread count pillowcase and knot it off. I have kept snakes in pillowcases much longer then 8 hours and they are just fine.

I like to put the snakes in the pillowcases and then into a ventilated tub to make sure they are nice and secure.

I am almost positive that everyone who has to transport snakes long (or short) distances will use either a pillowcase or a snake bag.

I've transported them in Critter Keepers and tubs with vent holes. If you do this, make sure you cover it with a t-shirt or something to keep the sun from shinning directly into it. I also set the Acu-Rite in the front seat and run the probe into the carrier so I can watch the temps in the tub and truck and keep them around 75-78 or so. Whichever way you choose, just don't set them on the floor unless you have something thick like a comforter or blanket folded up down there. Floorboards can get alot hotter than you think...

When snakes are shipped they stay 24 hours in a snake bag, also remember they like their surroundings close... They will be just fine in there.

I just moved from Maryland to the ATL and I put them in vented 15 qt tubs with t-shirts inside and watched my temps and we made it fine.
