    My Cricket set up

I've started to breed some crickets to feed my geckos. So far they are not terribly hard to take care of, I find the adults are more finicky than the pinheads due to needing a lot of space. I've been feeding them a 50/50 mix of ground up dog and cat food, seems to work well.

Anyways, here is my set up:
(water source is a piece of plastic that makes an arch -cut it out from a 2 liter soda bottle, with moist toilet paper on it)

There are 2 heat pads, a human one that covers the whole bottom, and a reptile one for a hot side. Since it is a fish tank it also has a light inbedded in the top that I turn on. Temps are very important and need to be at least 80*F.

Lay box with moist eco earth:

    Re: My Cricket set up

That's pretty neat. Do you take the egg container out to let the eggs hatch in a different container so you don't have pinheads in with the adults?

    Re: My Cricket set up

I don't need a constant supply of crickets for my cresties, so about a day before the pinheads started hatching I placed all the adults into a cricket container to be fed off. So about 20 + females got to lay eggs for 10-12 days.
