    Charlotte pics & update...

Charlotte the hognose is getting so big! I just weighed her, and she's a "whopping" 36g... she was only like 15g when I got her in March, so I think that's a nice gain. She's eating a sm-med fuzzy mouse weekly, and takes them like a true hog - LOL. Do you think that's a good feeding size/frequency for her right now? She'd probably take two fuzzies or a hopper (she'd take a kitten if I offered!), but I don't want to overdo it. Here are some updated photos of her... she's still a total cuddle-bug, and does love my snuggie.

Can we make that 3 mice next week?

Thanks! And yes she is a total piggo, LOL. She's a little weird about taking f/t from tongs, so I usually just lay it down - and she goes for it within seconds. I'm feeding her small fuzzies weekly, but I wouldn't be surprised if she graduates to hoppers soon.

    Re: Charlotte pics & update...

Btw, I did have a scary incident with her last week! I woke up kind of by accident around 8:30am (I usually don't get up until after noon for work), and decided to use the bathroom while I was up. I got back to my room, and was laying in bed when I noticed a continuous HISSSS sound. At first I thought it was the furnace, then I thought it was my Persian cat who wheezes in his sleep... finally I realized it was not a normal sound, so I went to investigate. I saw my other cat by the futon/sofa, lifting her paw over what I thought was a string or tassel. I was like "where did you find a tassel, Bindi," and then I noticed it was Charlotte!

She had somehow escaped from her tub (think I know how), and was all coiled, flopping and hissing like crazy on the floor. Poor thing was terrified of my cat, and I actually thought I'd witness the hognose dead-play. That would've been cool, LOL. Anyway, I picked up the hissing flopping hoggie, and returned her to her tub... where she proceeded to continue making noise for about 10-15 minutes before settling down. Oh, and it didn't help that my cat knocked the tub over (while I was putting Charlotte back), sending it flying to the floor upside-down. She's fully recovered from her ordeal now, and took her meal like a champ two days ago. Whew!

I'm glad the cats didn't hurt her!

We had a cat that broke into one of my old glass aquariums I kept an egyptian sand fish in.. maybe like 12-15 years ago, and snagged my lizard. Luckily it was discovered before any real damage was done to my pet.

A lock was added to the sliding top. Freaking crazy cats learning to manipulate sliding lids.

I'd say her feeder size/frequency sounds spot on too, keep us updated as she grows

Yeah, it was lucky for sure! I think she was scared too, once Charlotte started putting on her display... but seeing as I lost 2 leopard geckos to a cat once (back when I was in college), I know how predatory they can be.
