A little off topic but, still... Help!

In a way, this IS related to my BP because it's related to her food...

... Her food being loose and taking up residence in my BEDROOM! Gah!

A couple weeks ago, a young female mouse escaped; I had planned to use her in a small 1.2 colony for breeding. Since then, she's been living behind our dressers and scavenging any fallen bird seed off the floor from our cockatiels' cage. We tried once to physically catch her, and before she escaped her enclosure, I quickly learned she was probably one of the fastest mice I've ever seen. Not good for me. Or Sheva.

Needless to say, not an easy task. I want to catch her before I lose track of her or she slips outside. Can anyone recommend a hardware store (Canadian) or any store that carries LIVE traps? Or is it possible to make one at home? ANY suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance, guys! I need my future-baby-momma mouse back!

When I was younger, we had a few gerbil escapes. We'd take a deep bucket, make a kind of ladder up to the top of it, and fill the bottom with food and treats. They'd climb up the ladder, fall in, and not be able to get out.

My uncle does almost the same thing, but he puts a dowel across the top of a bucket with a can in the middle (the dowel rod going through it) and peanut butter in the middle of the can. They try to get it but the can spins and they fall into the bucket.

A little bit of work for on little mouse, but it'll probably do the trick. Good luck!

Google, or search, Box traps. The simplest would be to use a half a pencil with a long string tied to it. Put down some bait and set the box on top of it bottom up. Lift one side of the box and prop it with the broken pencil. The gap has to be big enough for the mouse to get in and small enough that the mouse wont get out before the box falls. Go accross the room and hold the other end of the string, then wait. When the mouse goes under to get the bait just pull the string catching the mouse under the box. Carfully slide another piece of cardboard underneath and slowly flip the whole thing, then retrieve your mouse.

sorry to say this...but you may just want to get a mouse trap, feed ur snake, and get a new mouse, u will save money and headaches and sleepless nights.

I've had this happen just recently. I couldn't catch the mouse. I ended up putting a cracker box (about a foot deep and 5 inches squared into a corner. I put bird foot in it and then laid it down in the corner. I then let it set for some time. I waited until I heard the mouse in the box, then went over and flipped the box up, kinda trapping the mouse in the box. The mouse was inside the box eating away. It's the simpliest way I know how to catch a loose mouse.

..........I can handle all the mice just fine....but when the are loose and kind of like "wild"...egads. I know...weird..

I would (and maybe I am just paranoid) would not feed it to my snake. You never really know what she has exposed herself too. But again...that could just be me.

for me eny mice or rats that escape get fed the same day.

get a few mouse traps, kill it, bin it. buy another one
