    Question Is this a pastel?

If anyone can offer some help to a relative noob, it would be much appreciated.

This snake is for sale in my area, but this is the only pic available. The seller says it's an 07 pastel male, but it doesn't look like most of the pictures of pastels that I've seen. Is it a pastel? Thoughts?

it looks normal not like most browned out pastels ive seen and its got high white sides. i would think for an 07 it would be much larger than that. got any more pictures i dont think its a pastel at all. this is my pastel

It looks like an ulgy brown out pastel, personally I would pass.

You can always ask for head and belly pics but it will only confirm it in my opinion.

    Re: Is this a pastel?

I would expect the areas on its lower sides that are sort of cream colored to be more yellow if it were a pastel, but some pastels don't hold their color at all well.

Another question to ask is, even if it is a pastel, do you have any interest in owning that snake? I'd say no. You can get reasonable quality male pastels for around $100 or even less if you shop around. If it were a female, that would be different, because an extra female pastel is a good thing, even if she isn't the best pastel, but I wouldn't want such a browned out male pastel.

    Re: Is this a pastel?

    Thanks for all the feedback!

I thought it looked pretty dark for a pastel. The only reason it piqued my interest in the first place is because it's listed for $50.

I'm supposed to get more pics from the sellers tonight. I'll post them when I get them.

It looks like it is in blue. I would email them for a pic when it is done shedding.

    Re: Is this a pastel?

I think it's a pastel that's in shed. I also personally feel that if you have to ask if a snake is a particular morph (ie, it's that hard to tell) then it's probably not one that you want to pick up anyway. For example, poor quality pastels, enchi's, cinnamons - if they're so low grade that it's hard to tell that they're even a morph, then why bother? Keep looking for one that's a better example!
