Same here. Most of the men around me are terrified of my snakes. I've always loved reptiles.

When I first got my snake my wife was terrified of it, but she’s slowly coming around. Last night I was handling him, and she was really captivated by his pattern. Hopefully she will be willing start handling herself because I plan on getting more snakes, and it would be nice to have some help when cleaning up.

    dont get mad ladies
I'm one of the 2 out of 10 then. My boyfriend has ZERO interest in the snakes - it's completely MY thing, not his.

    Re: Male or female owner!

I have always loved reptiles. My husband tolerates them and even likes a few but they are not "his thing" so he doesn't handle them or anything. My brother hates snakes and is terrified of them. However, I did have a male roommate that didn't like snakes until he met Isis, my boa. He liked her and would take her out on occasion. Even my sister who was terrified of snakes started to like Isis. My older sister got into snakes recently (haha, I converted one!) so actually the majority of people in my life that like snakes are female and developed a liking of reptiles on their own or from another female.

    Re: Male or female owner!

I used to catch garter snakes as a kid and I thought they were really cool but I never considered keeping a snake. My husband loves reptiles and had a ball python as a high school student. He always wanted another and together we now own two. We take care of them equally. He definitely got me into owning them but I was never afraid of snakes.

    Re: Male or female owner!

I think my boyfriend and I got into snakes around the same time, but his interest has waned for the most part whereas mine has only grown and I've gone on to start breeding. My mother is terrified of snakes, my brother thinks they're "nasty", and my dad just thinks they're a neat oddity. My kids (son 2 and daughter 5) ADORE our snakes and have for as long as I can remember.

    Re: Male or female owner!

Its funny my fiance tolerates it, will not hold one but she will feed for me if I'm busy or if I ask for help. She hates when I get a new one but once its set in stone she wants to pick it out (example my new Lesser). She really likes going to the shows though and the last show I bought my lesser and she told me I might as well buy a spider too for the price. I think the only thing she HATES is my new rack from reptile basics because its black and doesn't match with anything in the bedroom lol lol
