Boxer James Toney Just Signed With The UFC...

During his boxing career, Toney had a record of 72-6-3, with 44 knockouts, while winning titles in several different weight classes. He is currently 41 years old. Toney has twice tested positive for illegal substances following his fights. In 2005, Toney tested positive for steroids by the New York Athletic Commission, and again in 2007 by the California State Athletic Commission. Both of those resulted in Toney's suspension from the sport. He is 6-foot, 230lbs. and last boxed in September at 217 lbs. Nobody has said officially when Toney may make his UFC debut yet, and at this time no one has said where he will do his MMA training to prepare for his first fight. Everyone knows he can punch and is a loud mouth. We will have to see if age plays a factor and lack of experience in the ground game. Also curious is if Toney will fight at 205 pounds or heavyweight in MMA? He started out his career as a middleweight. The last time he fought below 205 was in 2004 as a cruiserweight though. Should be interesting...

He will at least have a punchers chance like Mercer:

I like(d) James Toney but even in his prime he couldn't crack like a 40+ Ray Mercer still can.

Still, these are exciting times for both sports. Ricardo Mayorga is fighting Din Thomas, and Vic Darchinyan (who I can't wait to see decapitate this guy on Showtime this Saturday) is even saying he wants to give it a shot.

The guy's a cheater. He's been caught cheating on too many occasions. If I was a professional fighter, I wouldn't accept any challenges against him.

I respect your opinion and I agree he has been proven to be a cheater but if I were a pro that fact would not stop me from fighting him. I look at it like this: If I was at a bar and a dude jacked up on steroids wanted to fight me would I fight him even though I know he has an unfair advantage? Yup, wouldn't think twice. Would I prefer to fight a guy who is not cheating or been caught cheating? Absolutely, who wouldn't...

If there was a guy at a bar who wanted to fight me, I'd call the cops, regardless of who has the advantage
