Could he possibly be a Fire?

This is Buddy, who has got something going on,I just don't know what. I have to breed him out to prove him. Do you think he could be some type of fire, he was actually much lighter when he was younger. You could put him in a tank full of normals and just reach in and pick him out immediately. The other question I have is to prove him would I be better breeding him to a normal or to a pastel or some other morph.

if he has gotten darker with age he is probably not a fire, they get lighter and better looking with age. i would go with a normal and see if he reproduces him self good luck! .

Could he be, of course, there is always that one-tenth of one percent chance for anything. I think the question you should be asking is, how likely is it? To that, I would answer not very...for a couple of reasons. First, the color seems a bit dark. Second, the head pattern just does not quite look right. That being said, I did produce one granite looking Sulfur-a het black eyed lucy, that seems to throw some darker babies. Take a look at Tim Baileys website. Look up the Sulfurs he has for sale for comparison, and see if he has a pic of his original Sulfur male.

despite having a very light/bright pattern, his base colour is far too dark and rich to be a fire...
fires, more often than not, have a soft brown base colour
