Can mites kill the eyes of your BP

So my friends snake the other day when i looked at him i noticed he was in shed but went to held him and soon saw alot of mites there had to be about 30 at the most on my hands so we quickly treated him cleaned his cage out and soaked the hole snake in harm water so i happen to look at his eyes and there are mites all around then all in the snakes nose pits. But the eyes are really gray looking so i dono is this just eye caps or did the mites attack the eyes

They eyes get gray during a shed cycle. The mites will go to the eyes and heat pits to try and get away from the water.


Have your friend order a can of Provent a Mite online. I believe this is the only effective way to treat for mites and get rid of them all.

An infestation that bad can be harmful to the snakes health. I would soak the snake daily and clean the cage once a week and only use paper towels or newspaper for substrate.

He got some type of mite treatment for his BP and i also had him do a tub with just half wet and dry paper towels hope this will work he told me today he hasnt seen anymore mites but im just hoping that hes eyes are fine, it would be a shame to lose a blackback cinnamon.

I will say this, if he's not specifically using Provent-a-Mite, he's wasting his time.

I had a baby once who had mites like that, and I bought a blue bottle of "Mite Killer" from the petstore. That stuff didn't help at all, and the mites ended up killing my poor baby.

When I saw a single mite on my new baby, I bought the Provent-a-Mite, and no more mites, ever! Don't take chances with your baby, use what works.

There is a sticky here on why the people of BP.NET use it, and reading that was enough for me. It is easy to order online, so let your friend know he needs it. If you have a reptile store near you, they might carry it.
