    Taking a Fecal

Hey all. So, snakes don't tend to poop daily for us like other animals, so it might be hard to have fresh feces availble for a fecal examination. How do you store feces and how long is it 'good' for?

    Thanks!

In the fridge in a ziploc baggie for a day or two

    Don't freeze it

Obviously if you can get it to the vet right after you get it, that's the best.

But a day or two, no more than that, in the fridge should be ok.

Depending on the vet and the test, you can use a probe and get enough of a sample to do a test. Other times, you can gently squeeze the snake's lower half and get a sample. The vet should know how to do this while you're at the vet's office. If not, then maybe you need to find another herp vet.

    Good Luck!
