Im a little worryed I have a water softener that puts salt into my tap water not enough to taste but still a good amount does any body know if this is a problem? He is starting to shed I notced his eyes dulling yesterday just as I started to handle him so Im hoping for a good shed he has soaked in his dish hence the water question. If someone can help me out Ill take fact or opinion THANKS IN ADVANCE

I don't think you think too much!

Caring is good... Just don't worry.

Anyway, I do not have experience in this problem, I doubt many do... But why not be safe then sorry? Just buy a gallon jug of water from a grocery store. Its cheap way for peace of mind until you find out for sure

    You'll be fine

I'd actually prefer softer water here than my tap water

Re: do I think to much?

I would retitle this concern as something like "will water softener hurt my ball?" and see what you get. I don't have a water softener now but did have one back when all I had was a corn. I'll try to find info on this.

If you do buy water don't get distilled. Most of the time if it's safe for you it's safe for your snake.

A water softener doesn't actually put salt into your tap water, the way a softener works is this:

There is a canister with beads that chemically bond to the minerals in your water, your water runs through these beads and is softened by them.

Every 2 or 3 days (most likely at night), your salt cylinder is filled with water then pumped into the canister containing these beads. The water sits in the canister for 30 - 90 minutes then is pumped out of the canister and drained.

The salt water is actually used to clean the beads of the minerals.

Therefore that salt that slowly disappears that you have to refill is not actually the purifying agent, but cleans the system itself.

So, don't worry about it, there's no salt in your water
