Basic English On The Situation At Hand

Can someone PLEASE provide some very basic, easy to understand, answers to these questions. The more people that have a full, correct understanding, the stronger we are.

1.) This bill that I keep hearing about, what is it and what exactly would its passage mean to ME and MY pet Snakes?

2.) What snakes species specifically will this apply to?

3.) What steps have been completed so far to make this law?

4.) What remaining steps still have to happen for this to become a law?

5.) What specifically can I do to fight this?

    1) If passed, it adds all 4 species of anacondas, boa constrictors and their subspecies, burmese pythons, reticulated pythons and northern and southern African pythons to the Lacey Act. This means no importing or transporting across state lines. Otherwise, you can keep the animals you have but if you had to say move to another state, you can't take them. If you breed, you can't sell out of state.

    2) See #1

    3) It's passed the Senate subcommittee

    4) It will go to the Senate floor for a vote. It then has to pass the House and then be signed by Obama. I'm specifically talking about S373. There are other bills out there.

    5) The next step being asked is to set up an in person meeting with your senators or their staff. This is done by calling their office.

    Hope that clears it up.

If you own one of the species this law applies to, you will no longer be able to transport your pet snake from one state to another or export it from the country. The minute you cross state lines, you're committing a federal offense ... this includes shipping.

As of right now: Burms, African Rocks, Green Anacondas, Yellow Anacondas, Retics, and Boas

House and Senate Committee hearings, amendments, and votes to forward both bills to the House floor and Senate floor.

    1. House Floor vote & Senate Floor vote.
    2. Merging of the two bills in conference
    3. Signature by the President.

Go to www.nosnakeban.com ... read the info there ... then click on the link for the action center and follow the steps. (The action center is 80% complete but will be fully up and running tomorrow).

Also, join and donate to USARK. Support with everything you have whatever they ask you to do.

Join and donate to PIJAC. Support with everything you have whatever they ask you to do as well.

Make a commitment to going ALL IN.

    Hope this helps.

    1) IF you own one of the affected species, you will not be permitted to take it out of the State it currently resides in. You will not be able to transport or ship it across State lines. You will not be permitted to purchase a snake of these species from anyone outside of your State.

    2) This bill CURRENTLY applies to the Burmese and Indian Pythons, both species of African Rock Pythons, the Reticulated python, all 4 species of anaconda, and Boa constrictor (all subspecies).

    3) This bill was just amended, but has not yet been voted on.

    5) Following the advice of USARK and PIJAC is our best option--call and write to your State's senators, to all of the people involved with the Bill, to the media, and to the President.

No, but in the blink of an eye those species listed would be GONE.

What makes you think they won't come after your Ball Pythons or my Blood Pythons next?

That wouldn't be fair to you or I, as this current bill isn't fair to anybody keeping those species.

Re: Basic English On The Situation At Hand

Until the amendment this past week, the bill DID include ball pythons, but did NOT include boa constrictors. Nothing is safe until this is settled.
