res morphs?

hi, my girlfriend and I are starting to get interested in red eared slider morphs...are there any sites with info like a list of all the morphs..which ones are simple recesive..co-dom...stuff like that..any info would be greatly apreciated. thank you!

My GF and I picked up a pastel looking girl at a show for $15, she's pretty awesome! Too bad her shell has permanent damage from mistreatment, but it's okay.

Well there are pastel, snow, albino, carmel albino and clown. I can't tell you what is recessive but your best bet is they will mostly be ressecive.

Pastel isn't an inhertible trait. Actually they are produced by high incubation temps. Many are incubated at such extremes you see various shell deformaties. I've even seen them with no eyes! Not sure if there has been any improvements but its seems you only find fresh hatchlings in any numbers. Rarely can one find any well started or larger turtles. I don't personally take interest in a mutation that is nothing more than visually appealing, for breeding they are nothing more than normal RES.

Morphs are a touchy topic in turtle keeping, it's really about the ethics on how they're produced. Here's a list of all the one's that I know about.

Pastel - Artificial, produced by high incubation temps. Most have deformities and I'm not sure about the longevity of them.

Albino - Recessive, bad eye sight, may require a lot of assistance in feeding since they can't see the food.

Hypo/Ghost - Likely Recessive, don't know much about this mutation it's not too popular but I like it.

Caramel Pink - Likely recessive, One of the craziest looking ones out there.

Shelless - Unknown, people say it has to do with incubation temps. It isn't actually shelless but scuteless. Just like scaleless snakes there is a lot of controversy on this.

Since turtle morphs aren't very big, a lot of vendors at shows will put some random name to make it sound cool so people will buy it. Like the lemonade, ultra hypo, and that snow that someone else posted. I honestly believe that they're just regular albinos. If someone can prove me wrong then please tell me that'll be great.

The clown morph is not a RES morph, it's a supercooked Peninsula Cooter. Basically the equivalent of a pastel in RES but named differently so these people can make more money off it.
