Smile Got out daylight bulbs, Much better! DUW!

Last night i saw that my Calico had shed. In one amazing piece mind you! So i went to work photographing some of the snakes. I think i got some pretty good ones. There is definately a huge difference in the way the color & exposure comes out depending on the background color. Seems to me that white is the best way to go with my camera. Taken with my Fugifilm Finepix S1500 digital superzoom camera. Let me know what you think & if you have any pointers to improve my photography of the snakes. THANKS!

Awesome pictures!! I'm really thinking of doing that white background really soon, maybe today I'll try it out before I feed the snakes. Not sure where to get the white background, but I use black shelves when I take my photos, but maybe white paper would work? Anywho, nice pictures & snakes!!

You can use white poster board. New white pillow cases. Pretty much anything thats very white. There are also differences in the pictures between using a glossy background as opposed to a flat or brushed background.

With black it seems better to use gloss or a mirror. With white i dont think it matters as much. Sometimes i have to play with the settings on my camera to get the color as close to real life as possible.

My only real problem now is i need at least one more light coming from the other direction to get rid of the shadow cast by the snake.

When I use the light, I normally have it on top of something (like a clear tub lid, or a screen lid that I use for an enclosure) so the light shines down onto the snake instead of having the light next to me in front of the snake. Here's an example:

Thanks! She is quite a looker & I can't wait for her to grow up! She's from the bubblegum line. She herself is not a bubblegum but she does have a couple of those orange flames. Her brother from the same clutch was absolutely amazing. He was covered in orange, pink & bright yellow flames. He looked neon & unreal. She was pricey enough tho. No way could i afford him. Im hoping she gives me some amazing babies that look like that in a couple yrs. In the meantime im trying to decide the best pair up with her to get brighter color calico combos. Im thinking fire would be a good choice.

LOL I couldn't find a white poster board or a shelf so I just used white sheets, and it did actually work out pretty well. I'll post up some pics once my male is done shedding ^.^
