mouse litter tub chewing issues!!

Ok, I built a rack that is exaclty like the one that is stickied in the beginning of the threads. I was wondering if other people that built it had problems with the mice chewing out of their tubs. My rack has about 24 tubs and about half of them have a little circular hole in them where the mice got a hold on the plastic and chewed their way out. Is there anyone on here that has had that problem? If so, what is the best way to fix the rack so that the little buggars can't chew out of the tubs. I really don't want to buy new tubs every time they chew out because they are almost $3 per tub and that could get really expensive.

Is there another rack on here that someone made to solve that problem?

hole? are you talking about the little indents on top of the rim of the tub?
if so what kind of gap do you have between the tub and the hardware cloth on the top

I have been breeding mice for a while and never had any chewing incident with mice.

What pans are you using?

There is either a too large of a gap, or there is nothing with those pans where there can get a hold and start chewing.

You are not using the new re-redesigned van ness litter pans are you?

make sure they got something else to chew on, i found once i started using a food hopper and they never run out of food, they don't chew on the tubs.

Sorry, I meant that the mice had chewed a circular hole in the tubs. I think that the tubs are the new van ness ones. I got them from walmart and I think that they come in blue, green and a maroon color. Are those crappy or something? The gap b/t the tubs and the screen is less than 1/8 of an in on all of the tubs and even on the ones that it fits snug, the little guys still chew a hole in them.

I have been using the old style van ness litter pans for 2+ years now and never had any chewing issues.

Are the pans even and rectangular or do they have curves to them, the curvy ones are the new ones and they are not suitable to make a rodent rack for obvious reasons.

You either have to big of a gap or have the old style pans, do you have a pic of your rack and tubs?

BTW if you have chewers I would recommend to feed them of as they will try again and again.
