putting together first rack
Found a drawer table thing in the garage and decided I might as well build a rack. I think I have it planned out. It is going to have 3 shelves, the bottom 2 will have 1 sterilite 41qt and the top will hold 2 sterlite 35qt. I was wondering about how much space should I leave between the top of the tubs and the shelves without having lids (don't want any escapes). Also which size flexwatt should I use for belly heat? Can the tubs sit right on top of the flexwatt or should they be raised? Any other suggestions feel free to throw them this way. Thank You

Re: putting together first rack
Hi,
What sizes of snakes are the racks designed to hold?
I used the thickness of two cd's (not in cases ) for my BP's - but the thickness of your heat tape needs to be considered as well.
I have a third of the tub as a hot end but I needed to use a second set of heat tape to create a cool end as my house is quite cold.
The tubs I chose have little feet sections in them so most of the bottom is raised slightly off the tape - but I have also seen people say that this will eventually cause rubbing on the heatmat and the tubs should be suspended.
Reading all that back put me down as a "don't know"

Re: putting together first rack
Hi,
Definately use the thermostat - and possibly it might be worth thinking about putting a dimmer switch in-line between the thermostat and the heat tape as well as a back up.
These things are a heck of a lot easier to think about and fit before the unit is built.
