Re: Incubator fan
I'm using a cooler as an incubator but the proceedures on making them is pretty much the same. I bought a fan from Best Buy(they have one for $8 I think). Most importantly you need a transformer that matches the voltage on the fan, for example, 12v fan-12v transformer. The wattage on the transformer can be more than the fan, but the fan can not pull more wattage than the transformer supplies. My fan was blowing too hard to get the right temps so I added a rheostat in line between the fan and transformer(again you need to make sure the rheostat can handle the wattage that the fan is pulling). The rheostat I got from Radioshack was rated for 3 watts and a .52 mA fan @ 12v pulls just over 2 watts so it worked out fine. I hope this helps you a bit. If you don't know much about wiring things and finding out watts and vis versa I would contact someone that can help you. If you draw more wattage than you transformer can supply you will most likely start a fire.

You can do that also. Mine was from a wireless microphone reciever. Just make sure it is the right volts and watts.

If you temps are consistent through out the whole incubator then no. I would use one just so I have the comfort knowing that theair is circulating and I don't have any hot spots.
