    Backdrop colors for each morph??

While doing a photo shoot last night, I was thinking about which colors go best with each morph. My two portable "studios" came with a few different backdrops, including black, white, red, and blue... so which one goes with which snake? I have a spider, mojave, pastel, two normals and two hets (normal coloring) to work with. I think black goes best with the spider, but red could also look cool with his yellow highlights - then maybe black for the pastel, and red or blue for the normals. What about the mojo? Just thought it would be interesting to hear your opinions, not only on my morphs but all others! Examples are cool too, of course...

I'd try to keep the colors black or white. Red and blue might look a tad bit... tacky.

I personally like white, that way you know exactly what the snake looks like. Although, the light morphs look really hot with black backgrounds. I'd stick with black or white.

Re: Backdrop colors for each morph??

I use black now, since my morphs are all yellow based (pastel, spider, and albino). I once used DARK blue, and it looked fairly good, but the black is best for them. I would say to use white on the darker morphs for good contrast.

If you want to use colors, use the opposite of the snake's main color - yellow snakes should be on dark purple to black, Reddish brown should be on turquoise (believe it or not) to bring out the red. My partner is very good at color wheels and combining and contrasting.

Re: Backdrop colors for each morph??

Red and Blue will offset the natural colors of the morph...As one may think that it will make the snake stand out...When you actually want something that could compliment the snake.

I would go, Black (mainly with the lighter based morphs) and White (for the darker based morphs)

If you choose colors... I would experiment more with earth-tone colors instead. Navy Blues, Burgundy, Light Browns, Gray, Earth-based yellows like Yellow Ochre, and so forth.

These colors won't blend in with the snake as well as certain colors can compliment it, (Ochre Yellow could compliment something like a Cinny.)

Thanks for the replies! Sounds like you all prefer sticking with black and white, so maybe I'll just experiment with those... I'd also like to try a brown or dark yellow, mainly for the Mojo & Pastel.

I first used the red and blue backgrounds that came with my light box when I first got it but I've returned to black and white. Simple and clean.

I love a splash of colour to play around with...

I believe sticking to solids & avoiding heavy patterns is a must. It can be fun to play with palates.

However, when selling or buying, I believe that white is the best background because if the camera is throwing a warm cast, the white will show it too, It's easier to correct the colour cast to know what the animal looks like.
