They are beautiful! I especially love the red on that male. When are you thinking of breeding them? Man, as soon as my husband and I get our own house, I am getting some bettas! You've made me catch the betta bug all over again.

Something that is really good for them, especially during breeding is almond leaf. You can get it on aquabid for really cheap and it makes the water a kind of brownish color but it is supposed to imitate their natural habitat (leaves falling in the water) The leaf not only helps condition the water but it provides a place for the male to make his nest.

So with the babies last time. Did they just disappear? Are you using a filter on the breeding tank? Oh and those two definitely need a bigger tank. I recommend no smaller than a 1g tank for a betta. I personally always try and use 2-5g per betta.
I have babies from them right now .I lost the babies last time because i tried feeding them fry fish food.Well i now have 3 differant worm cultures that were recommended from a betta breeder. No filtration on the tank as it wears out the babies.I cut a styrofoam cup in half for him to build his nest in(also recommended by breeders).

Congrats!!!!!! Those guys are very tiny, should be like 500-800 maybe. To give some of you a good idea of the size, they are smaller than a spec of dust. They are truly amazing.

Using a flashlight helps too lol. It was pretty cool the first time I saw babies like that darting across the water. They are just soooo tiny in comparison to cichlid fry.
