    They actually serve to make the base of the unit stonrger and so it doesnt rock as easily. but ok.

    my 41qt rack used almost 4 sheets of Melamine.

    each shelf is18x38

    sides are 72x18. i didnt use a back but if you want use peg board in this size 72x18.

    I say 18 for the back to give yo ua 1" gap on back to feed wires out
