    After seeing a tip on here, my husband got one of these:

    He used it on all our tubs, and none of them have rough edges or cracked when he was drilling the holes. It seemed to work much faster than the soldering iron that he used to use, and it doesn't smell. A bit expensive, but worth every penny if you've got lots of holes to make.

    I used a drill but I warn not ot apply too much pressure you can splitthe plastic ( my solder iron the medium end electric cone for working on stuff so it has the V shaped tipe ( were you undo 2 screws and remove the v and replace it ) I don't think it make a good one to use had the cheap ones but I burn them oout with in 3 months wit hall the repairs i was doing to ps2 and such.

    Soldering iron works for me. You can also use a wood burning iron from hobby stores. Some people have simply heated up a Phillips screw driver and punched it through...

    I used a drill for a while, but sometimes it's hard to smooth out the edges, so now I use a soldering iron.
