What's the longest a male should be kept in with the females?

    I'm guessing 10 days...

After that I want to feed off the male, I have 3 male hoppers growing, and would be full size, if and when the two females give birth which by then I will have the new boys do their jobs.

I pretty much want to know whats the maximum time a male needs to be with a female...

I haven't seen any plugs on the females yet either...

I never take the males out ever. I have 24 breeding groups with 2 males per group and 4 females each group. I never take them out. If fed high quality food and lots of water the males will not harm the babies.

I never take my male out and have not lost any babies yet. I only have a 1.2breeding trio of mice right now as I have most of my snakes switched over to rats. I do know that when I first put the trio together, I had each female giving birth about a month later give or take a few days.

I always keep the male in with mine, I don't like to grow up new males because id rather keep the bloodlines more spaced apart, seeing how they are already going to get a little dirtied when I raise up females.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

We breed feeders harem style (large colonies, no rotation beyond pulling weanlings into new tubs), with no really well defined breeding groups - we just tend to pull mostly males when feeding.

Should have them pregnant within a week, mice go into heat every few days. I have a small colony and only two males so I switch out weekly or as needed. Since males stink with all the marking I don't like to keep too many around. Best bet would be to wait until they look fat though, just in case.

I have many many colonies of mice, I have any were from 2 to 4 male mice per colony. Thye always stay with the colonies and never had found a problem. But I have found a problem when you get to many breeder males together, they end up fighting and eating at thier rear ends.

Re: What's the longest a male should be kept in with the females?

Ive been breeding rats and mice for years. I never swap males unless they are getting old. I never have more than 1 male per tub and up to 10 females. I have found that 1.5 to 1.7 works best per tub.Once my mice are ready to be weaned I put all the weanlings into one raise up tub. Freeze the males and IF i need to keep some females for a new colony . Females once adults are never separated since they will kill each other babies if they are not "in the group".

As long as they have water and food Daily they wont hurt each other or their babies.
