    Should We Ban Photobucket?
ugh, Photobucket is the worse! and i think it's time to ban Photobucket from BP.net!

last year, Overnight, PB took all your pix hostage and demanded a ransom of at least $400/year if u want to share YOUR PIX w/ others and on other websites.
    https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/0BMDFSk.png

this ruined millions of websites. this ruined countless threads here on our forum itself. i did a quick check and here are some threads that were ruined by PB.

    -- 20gallon long - https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...-With-Pictures!

-- hides my way - https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...0-Hides-my-way (don't blame Deborah on this one. Blame Photobucket!)

-- how to set up an egg tub - https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...-up-an-egg-tub

    -- my feeder euthanizer (DIY CO2 Chamber - https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...Y-CO2-chamber)

    -- DIY Incubator Tutorial - https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...bator-Tutorial

    -- DIY Large Rack - https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...DIY-Large-Rack

    -- new rat bin - https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...1-New-Rat-Bins

    -- light dimmer/rheostat instructions - https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...t-Instructions

lotsa How-To/DIY and pix threads were ruined. i've always pointed fellow forumers esp. the newbies to some of these threads esp. the setups but now they are not as helpful w/o their accompanying pix.

even the peeps who have a paid Photobucket account, they're pix and stuff is still loaded w/ ads and crap. i just clicked on one pix and here is what happened:

    it is so laggy.

i think it's so laggy b/c it's loading all the ads, popups and clickbait and stuff. well, one caught my eye and i did click it. big mistake!

it downloaded crap and froze my web browser/computer.

i think it's time to ban Photobucket. please consider this proposal.

it is really upsetting trying to read older threads and all the photos are broken. i use Imgur.com to upload stuff on my computer and Tapatalk for stuff from my phone.

also, Ax, you should really use an ad blocker! lol.

Nothing, absolutely nothing is free, nor should it be expected to be. Servers cost money, disk space costs money, traffic costs money, producing software costs money. I don't use services like photobucket because I believe they are deceptive, just like facebook, and hook people into giving them something under the pretext of free. Photobucket fooled a lot of people, but they have to eat as well.

If this site wants to ban one file sharing site, they need to ban them all and only allow images that are hosted here. That is the only thing that will ensure the integrity of the threads.

ok i got a free Krispie Kreme donut today, but i think i know what u mean. we shouldn't ban them not b/c they no longer offer a free service (option), but we should ban Photobucket b/c they suck. also they're crooks and incompetent. at least other file sharing/hosting sites have a business model where they offer free and paid hosting options/plans. these sites know how to run a good looking website w/out the clutter of ads, fake clickbait, adware/malware and stuff. moreover they're not abruptly forcing a fee on u and your viewing public for access to your pix. that's just unethical and unfortunately there were many casualties of the PB debacle including countless threads on this forum.

Rumours abound that PhotoBucket has relented somewhat and whilst they still offer some premium options you can still use the basic option for FREE ?!

    Any info guys ??

There is nothing worse than googling an issue, finly finding a wonderful detailed answer on a forum, but ALL the pictures are that stupid Photobucket "please update your account" crap, ruining the answer. Imgur never has those issues, the pics stay there no problem. It happens to me all the time digging through old forum answers here as well as on other forums. Absolutely frustrating!

Maybe the photos may all reappear now if Photobucket has relented ??
