2018 Male Rio Bravo Pokigron Suriname Red Tailed Boa Constrictor Progression
I present my new and probably last addition for the foreseeable future... my first new world constrictor, a True Red-Tailed Pokigron Suriname Boa Constrictor descended from Gus Rentfro’s bloodlines.
Born March 28th, 2018. 72grams and 21” on arrival today and had started shedding just before I unbagged him. So all of these pics are with the freshest coat of paint possible. He’s been cruising his tub nonstop all day. May offer food this evening as I was told he is due to eat. Certainly a very active and curious little thing. Emphasis on little, he’s so tiny. Love the laterally compressed body, so different from python physique!

He looks awesome, unfortunately BCC are rare here in the UK. I read a while back that they grow a lot slower than BCI and that they're more sensitive with feeding regime but grow to a larger adult size. Looking forward to see this guy grow. Great pick up [emoji1474]

    WOW!!

Just awesome and that laterally compressed body is my favorite shape.

I can see the pinks and the eyelashes.

    That is one sensational BCC.

You and Sauzo have a couple of winners!

My fella is also a Rio Bravo boa.

I am pumped you have that snake and must warn you boas are addictive. I can't believe I only have one.

The compressed body is so cool! He’s like twice as tall as he is wide.
Yeah I can see a little pink on the sides and his eyelashes are more pronounced than in the pics I was sent. The peaks on the first half of his saddles are very defined too.
I’m quite smitten and proud to have a boa from Rio Bravo lines as well.
Got a fuzzy mouse thawing for him now. He’s already pooped and hasn’t stopped moving since he got here

No go on first feed attempt. Several defensive strikes and loud hissing. I’m sure he’s just scared, I’ll try again in a few days or more

Grats man. Boas are pretty awesome. Gina is in shed too. Boas are much more relaxing when compared to retics. Even big ole Rosey is happy to be thrown over a shoulder and dragged outside.

And he is tiny. He is smaller than Gina when i got her. She was about 24 inches.

Wait until you catch him darkening and lightening up in color. It's pretty cool.

Haha, yeah probably more into checking out the new place. Gina was kind of a cautious eater when i got her. Now she goes gung ho when a weaned rat is brought close to her.

    Awesome!

A buddy of mine who has 2 Rio Bravo Pokis recommends you keep feeding them mice the first year and DO NOT over feed.

I'm going to PM you some stuff if I can find it.

Yeah, stick to mice. I switched Gina over to weaned rats recently as she will be 2 years old this Aug 22. She is still pretty small, probably just cracking the 3 foot mark at like i said, almost 2 years old.
