Viv size for male Yellow Anaconda?

How big is your viv for your male Yellow?

I wouldn't go smaller than an 6' x 2' 6" x 18" tall for an adult male, to give him from for a hot side, cool side, and soaking tub.

I heard they need a enclosure with half the width of their length so they can have a soaking tub where they can submerge completely. Is this true?

Anacondas are semi-aquatic so given the opportunity to soak they will do so. They can do without a soaking tub if kept very humid. Since they're heavy-bodied I prefer to give them a larger enclosure with a soaking tub.

How big is your enclosure?

I wouldn't go any smaller than 6 ft wide, by at least 2 ft deep, possibly 2.5 and 15-18inches high. This will give them room, and it allows you to give them a nice gradient.

You can also use a large sterilite storage container or something from walmart as a water bowl so he can submerge in if he wants. I found keeping mine on cypress was the easiest way to keep humidity, just make sure you're using 100% cypress and it doesn't contain a mixture of other woods. Also you can you a bioactive soil mix that will help with humidity as well.

My female is only 6' now so she is in a 48"x30"x18" enclosure. I've already purchased an 8'x3'x2' enclosure (it was being sold locally, used, and I snatched it) and I set it aside for her.

Fortunately anacondas should be slow-grown as they are boas; they're not fast growers like the giant pythons. So, they take a few years to get up to full size.

Is it true they are stronger than pythons and stink more?

While I haven't done any side-by-side strength comparisons between the two, remember that for the same length anaconda versus retic or burm, the anaconda is going to be thicker and older. So, it wouldn't surprise me if it were stronger.

They tend to stink because they like to "go" in their water and then marinate in it.
