    ventilation
    Hi, Looking for advise:

I’m modifying a cooler to use as a carrier for my BRB or, to put him in if the power goes out..

I’ve drilled six large holes in the top for ventilation.

    Should this be enough?

More than enough, I would think. In fact, I'd probably tape over 5 of them.

When I had to bag my snakes for an ice storm that knocked out our power for days, I put 1-3 snakes (depending on size & compatibility) in each large ice
chest, with NO holes drilled. Every 8-9 hours, I changed the large jars of hot water inside that kept them warm (thus opening each chest twice, briefly).
All my snakes stayed perfectly healthy. (Another way is to put a tiny wad of tape where the lid comes down, to leave just the tiniest gap.)

When snakes are shipped by air in styro-foam boxes, I don't think most of them even have any air holes, so keep that in mind.

:gj: for planning ahead & being prepared!

Curious here, what do you mean by taking your snake out with you drinking?

So just to clarify here, when you go out drinking, you bring your baby Brazilian Rainbow Boa out with you? And that's why you are asking about making a cooler carrier?

"like" meaning "as if" [she was taking her snake out drinking with her].

I believe her initial post above was perfectly clear as to her intent, but for some reason the "friendly" FB folks misinterpreted her question & over-reacted...
