Where can I find ASF rats live?
    Hello everyone

I been searching all over trying to find African soft furs live. Does any know where I can find some? I am willing to pay the high shipping cost. I live in WA State 98902. Give me shout out if anyone knows a place. Thanks. :please:

Honestly your best bet is to start calling exotic pet stores and fellow breeders. ASF's aren't as popular as they used to be it seems, and they're nasty little b@stards to breed actually (speaking from experience here)! Very bitey and they LOVE to chew through breeding tubs. ....they also don't pop out babies like domestic rats, sometimes they just outright refuse breeding.

They can be valuable for picky/fasting BP's though sometimes. I'd just avoid the hassle and roll with domestic rats personally, then you can sell any surplus easier as well.

I raise my own rats, but I am not a fan of keeping mice. I find it is sometimes hard to get a baby balls to eat tiny rats. Mice seem to be better for their first 3 meals in my experience. My hope is a smaller ASF would be a better replacement. Male mice stink.

I'm a big fan of hands-on experience, so go ahead and try it (if you can find them). My experience however was that they were not worth the hassle....and trust me, they are a hassle compared to mice and rats. You also might find some contacts at reptile expos fyi.

Try scenting your f/t rat pups in soiled mouse bedding, that works a lot of times.

you can make the 3hour drive to the Reptile Show in Puyallup, WA this weekend: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...ic-Animal-Show! u can pick up some feeders or some breeders. :)

there's at least 1 person always there w/ live ASF's. i don't remember the vendor by name or where what city he's from, but he has big sideburns/muttonchops and i will get his name for u if u cannot make it across the mountains.

John Galt Reptiles near Tacoma has them also: http://johngaltreptiles.wixsite.com/reptiles

and so did the Reptile guy: https://www.seattlereptileguy.com

they're all still like 3hours from ya, but should be worth it to pick up breeders to start your own colonies.
